Amazon India may expand Prime subscription with offline benefits

Amazon India is considering a plan to load its Prime subscription service with offline benefits that would encourage frequent use of the programme, even as it looks to attract more customers from small cities and towns.

The company is looking to add more Prime members from small towns in India, and that its assisted shopping initiative called Udaan and the recent launch of its Hindi interface are helping. In India, Amazon is working to integrate with payment companies such as ToneTag, in which it has invested about $5 million, to offer benefits to Prime members at stores and restaurants.
